Justine Neuberger

Welcome to my page!

My name is Justine, I'm a figurative painter based in New York City and San Juan, PR. I teach English, Art and Art History. I love to share knowledge of art materials, technical skills, artists, art objects and movements within art history. It is especially exciting to see people be creative and experiment!

While my personal website is under construction, my work can be viewed on my instagram:

I graduated from Oberlin College with High Honors in Studio Art and Art History in 2015. I was also awarded the Laurie Mack Bongiorno prize by the Art Department for the most promising Art History Major and the Award for Excellence in Visual Art by the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Ohio. I completed my Master’s degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from CUNY Hunter College in 2020.

My professional experience includes work with several arts institutions, including the Biblioteca Degli Uffizi in Florence as an Archival Intern and the Metropolitan Museum of art in New York City as a Visitors Services Representative. I also taught Art, Art History and English in the NYC Department of Education for three years.

I worked as a Studio Assistant for Dominican-Haitian artist Firelei Báez, where I assisted with faux painting and installation of “For Améthyste and Athénaïre (Exiled Muses Beyond Jean Luc Nancy’s Canon) Anacaonas” in the Modern Window at MOMA. This experience allowed me to really refine my skills and work flow. I have a deep understanding of many materials, including papers, canvases, and various painting, drawing and sculpture mediums.

In addition, I maintain my own studio practice. I showed work in a two-person show at 17 Essex Gallery in New York in December. I will also be exhibiting work with Shoot the Lobster in Los Angeles in late January and Clima Gallery in Milan in Early March.
