We paid Ram $1,000 each and had a contract for 1 year. The $1,000 (per person) was supposed to cover his fees and all fees to the different Ministries and bribes. It did not cover our Visa fee ($180 for 6 months, then another $180 for the next 6 months - business visa). Ram told us the only business a foreigner could own was a cargo company. (We later found out this was a lie). He also told us the process would take 3-5 weeks (another lie, it took 66 days).
We were asked to sign fake business plans (which had clearly been used before for Chinese foreigners) and profit and loss statements. We were told this was business as usual in Nepal.
We have now had our visas for 2 months, and last week received a call from Ram asking for more money. He wanted 6,000 NRs to pay for a permanent PAN (a business tax id number) and 7,000 Nrs for his services to obtain the PAN. We obviously declined to pay him as we had ALREADY PAID for 1 years legal fees. So, now we are stuck with no recourse to get our money back and no visa past the end of November. Since we did not pay Ram more money, I am sure he will not help us get our next 6 money visa (as agreed to).
We had planned on staying in Nepal, but now we will be forced to either pay off someone in Immigration ourselves, or leave the country for 6 weeks at the end of the year. (We have already used our 5 months tourist visas).
I would not recommend Ram Sharan Thapaliya to ANYONE!!!
